The structure’s design principle is inspired by the beetle’s exoskeleton, which exhibits superior strength to weight ratio. The structure is a combination of an elliptical tube design and a simple lattice structure that holds the panels.
The D170EVO comes in two variants:
- Variant A, can bear up to 100 PV modules dimensioned 1×1,7 m, resulting 27 kWp of installed power when using 270 Wp modules.
- Variant B, can bear up to 86 PV modules dimensioned 1×2 m, resulting 27,5 kWp of installed power when using 320 Wp modules.
The elliptical tube, provides significantly superior stiffness and strength compared to the conventional frame designs of other tracker manufacturers.
The lattice structure, that supports the PV modules, is designed to lower the assembly time in the field, while providing high structural rigidity that protects the PV modules from forces that occur on the underframe under extreme external loads (wind, snow etc).
The zero-backlash hydraulic drive does not use gears or other means of mechanical transmission.
The purely hydraulic drive allows for smooth movement and operation. Also, due to the continuous slip capability under strong winds, the drive mechanism is extremely robust and capable of surviving even hurricane conditions.
