The D170EVO is an azimuth-altitude dual axis solar tracker. It uses a GEARLESS hydraulic drive for movement and presents superior stiffness and strength.

The D170EVO can increase the energy yield of a given plant up to 45%, when compared to fixed PV installations of the same installed power.

The D170EVO is designed to meet market requirements in the post-feed-in-tariff era.

DESIGN

INSPIRATION

The structure’s design principle is inspired by the beetle’s exoskeleton, which exhibits superior strength to weight ratio. The structure is a combination of an elliptical tube design and a simple lattice structure that holds the panels.

FLEXIBILITY

The D170EVO comes in two variants:

  • Variant A, can bear up to 100 PV modules dimensioned 1×1,7 m, resulting 27 kWp of installed power when using 270 Wp modules.
  • Variant B, can bear up to 86 PV modules dimensioned 1×2 m, resulting 27,5 kWp of installed power when using 320 Wp modules.

STRENGTH

The elliptical tube, provides significantly superior stiffness and strength compared to the conventional frame designs of other tracker manufacturers.

The lattice structure, that supports the PV modules, is designed to lower the assembly time in the field, while providing high structural rigidity that protects the PV modules from forces that occur on the underframe under extreme external loads (wind, snow etc).

GEARLESS DRIVE

The zero-backlash hydraulic drive does not use gears or other means of mechanical transmission.

The purely hydraulic drive allows for smooth movement and operation. Also, due to the continuous slip capability under strong winds, the drive mechanism is extremely robust and capable of surviving even hurricane conditions.

EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE

The D170EVO uses an astronomical algorithm to find the position of the sun. This contributes to maximum solar radiation intake even when it’s cloudy and also helps the tracker to avoid unnecessary movements.

This results in an overall better tracking quality and up to 45% greater energy production, ensuring greater benefit per unit of installed capacity in comparison to fixed systems.

EASY INSTALLATION

The installation of the D170EVO is quick and easy with the highest degree of standardization.

All work takes place in the field without need of experts.

The PV modules are easily fixed on the tracker by using the MEGRIP clamp, which has been designed exclusively by Mechatron for that exact purpose.
