FAQ

Mechatron’s Dual axis trackers, when installed near the earth’s equator, have the ability to move to negative elevation angles, maximum -1.5°, this allows the tracker to:

  • Track the sun efficiently the days that the suns elevation is almost perpendicular to the ground, this is particularly important in cases of CPV systems where ±2° tracking margin is vital for the CPV technology panels to work.
  • Overcome any construction deviations, e.g. a non-completely parallel to the ground foundation.

Yes, Mechatron’s solar trackers can be installed and work in either hemisphere.

Yes, we provide a fully detailed shipping list.

Yes we provide animation clips that make it very easy to understand the assembly procedure.

Yes, Mechatron has sold many trackers that are installed near shores.

Yes, our products are fully compliant with the CE standard.

Yes, Mechatron provides a list with items that will need to be replaced periodically; we also provide to our clients the ability to keep a small stock of components in order to make small repairs immediately.

Yes, Mechatron provides detailed maintenance manuals for all of its products.

Yes. Mechatron provides fully detailed drawings for the construction of the foundation. Also Mechatron provides concrete formwork drawings.

DC cables are not included in any of our models.

More than 30 years.

  • D170EVO: 3000 kg
  • S140EVO: 2500 kg
  • C140EVO: 3500 kg
  • POLO: 22000 kg

Depending on the model the available panel surfaces are:

  • D170EVO: 170 m² (dual-axis solar tracker)
  • C140EVO: 140 m² (dual-axis CPV solar tracker)
  • POLO: 1250 m² (horizontal single-axis solar tracker)

The payload is mounted on all of our trackers using a simple clamp called “megrip”, please ask one of our representatives for more details.

Our trackers support any kind of PV panels. There are also dedicated solar tracker models that can support various CPV panels.

No, there is absolutely no backlash. Backlash is an issue that mainly appears in electrical (gear driven) actuators and slewing rings. Our revolution drives use positively pre-loaded component that eliminate any backlash thus exterminating the danger of failures.

Unlike electrically driven systems, hydraulic driven systems do not have motor failures arising from wear due to use. This is because there is not actual strain on the motor from external loads e.g.: extreme wind conditions. Any motor failures on Mechatron’s systems are incidental.

We use hydraulic actuators in order to move both drive axes of our systems. The hydraulic actuators are driven by motors rated:

  • 0.55kW (0.75hp) for the dual-axis and CPV, CSP solar trackers.

±2° on both axes for all our standard PV tracking models, ±0,2° for our CPV and CSP high precision tracking models.

Durability, stability, low maintenance cost, long service life. Proven in field.

The rhetorical question: Have you ever seen earth-moving machinery (caterpillars, loaders, scrapers etc.) to use other technology than hydraulics?

All our Solar Trackers use hydraulic drives.

Yes, there is complete remote access to all the vital functions of the Solar Trackers in a given plant.

In over 2700 Solar Trackers installed we only had  21 Tracker Controller failures. This means the failure rate is below 0.008%, in other words we had 1 failure per 129 Solar Trackers installed.

We use a custom made Tracker Controller which is designed and manufactured by Mechatron. We also use an in-house developed software to control the tracker’s various functions.

All the above allowed us to have unprecedented control over the operation of our products, while keeping the cost down to an absolute minimum.
